Welcome to the South Shore Natural Science Center!

35th Annual Corn Festival, Saturday, September 17th (rain date Sunday the 18th)

Saturday, September 17th will be the date for this years Annual Corn Festival which was held at the Norwell Science Center from 10-4:00 pm.

Past festivals have featured hayrides and trips up and down the driveway in a fire engine with the siren going.

Along with these yearly fun events the Massachusetts South Wood Turners will be displaying there works as well as giving demonstrations on the art of wood turning.

In the past a number of exhibitors have include bird and figure woodcarvers, chain saw carving in which a small bear was created from a tree stump, a wood scooping demonstration in the production of wooden trenchers and of course woodturning courtesy of the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners.

We will be demonstrating woodturning techniques to an assorted group of youngsters and their parents.  The demonstrations may include, turned mushrooms with a natural edge, bowls, and tops that spin with ease.


The South Shore Natural Science Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the natural and cultural environments of the South Shore. Our mission is to provide natural science experiences that educate, excite, and commit every generation to preserve the environment and to encourage responsible use, stewardship and enjoyment of our natural resources.

The South Shore Natural Science Center is located on 30 acres surrounded by 200 acres of town conservation/recreation land consisting of meadows, woodland, and a pond. We welcome visitors year round. Please no smoking or pets on the property. Voted one of Massachusetts' 1000 Great Places to Visit by Mass Office of Travel and Tourism!
