MISSION STATEMENT

As a Chapter of the national organization The American Association of Woodturners our purpose is to foster a wider public understanding and appreciation of traditional and contemporary lathe-turning as a time honored craft and as a form of art.

ABOUT US

After considering a suggestion by Ellen Einhorn of the Audubon Society, 11 woodturners met in  Abington, Ma.  on November 23, 1996 and formed a group now called the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners (MSSWT ).That meeting was held in the shop of Hank Cahill where we continue to meet at 7:pm on the 4th Tuesday of every month.

Our Meetings

The August meeting 2006.     Our meetings are friendly and informal, and we encourage visitors. The agenda begins with the report from the club President, Vic Presedent, Treasurer and the general assembly of members.

After a short coffee break we continue with show & tell. Here, discussions in techniques of woodturning are aired. Each month we have a member challenge project. (listed in our news letter) These projects add fuel to the discussion of the many methods that could be have been used in there construction.

Members bring along projects they may have completed since the last meeting. They will discuss the technique used or problems they had while working on that particular piece.

The August meeting 2006.

We have a wood swap. Members donate a piece of wood to the club. Members will take a chance on   the pieces donated for $1.00. This is a good opportunity to bring home a nice piece of wood for your   next project. Maybe bring home a fine burl or some curly maple.

The Club meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at the shop of Hank Cahill.
